The first trailer for the Sonic The Hedgehog movie dropped yesterday and boy did it look… interesting. We didn’t quite know how to put into words how we felt about Sonic’s interesting character design or Jim Carrey’s portrayal of Dr. Robotnik. Luckily, as ever, social media was able to lend a helping hand. We take a look at some of the finest Tweets that we could find.
First of all, if you haven’t already seen the trailer, you need to.

One user seemed to think that the film might not be child-friendly in some of its themes.

Sonic’s character design was definite one point that came in for heavy scrutiny.

Whilst another shrewd user realised that they had seen Sonic somewhere before.

Not all of the focus was on Sonic though. One Tweet speculated as to what Tails might look like.

Jim Carrey as Robotnik was something to behold. His possible motives within the film were revealed.

Though so was his casting. One fan suggested that they should have cast someone else as the film’s villain.

Another revealed how close he came to landing the role.
I came close to getting the role of Robotnik for the Sonic movie, but he’s fat, evil, and educated, and unfortunately I’m only 2 of those things
